Hey, {{first_name | product-preneur}}!

I wasn’t able to travel until my 30’s, and the thing that unlocked it was taking a chance in 2020 to start a new career.

As I said, nothing gets my blood pumping like booking future travel, but it's not for the reason you're thinking…

The vein in my bald head starts to pop out when I see "Only two seats left." The hell if a short person is getting the seat with extra leg room. 😤

But there's something deeper and darker going on here.

Why it matters: Scarcity works because it hijacks momentum. Fake urgency forces rushed decisions, builds anxiety, and erodes trust. Every extra click or “what would you like to do next?” is a chance for your user to disappear.

Which brings us to your product, the same psychology is baked into onboarding flows, landing pages, and apps every day.

In case you missed it

Watch this to see if you keep making this one mistake: You don’t need more discipline or better tools, you need to stop making this one mistake that’s quietly killing your momentum as a solopreneur.

Potion of the Week

False Urgency

Your eyeballs see "Only two seats left," and your brain thinks "Shit, I need to buy now."

Artificial scarcity plagues all avenues of business these days. When was the last time you bought a limited clothing drop, or thought you were going to miss out on concert tickets because of that damn timer counting down?

This false urgency bypasses logic in the brain, and the FOMO kicks in hotter than a bottle of Tapatio. But that "1 room left" just means "1 room left at this price tier," not in the whole hotel.

Two lines of code. That's all it takes to fake "5 people are viewing this."

Ask yourself: is that the business you want to run?
